Matières sensibles was a curated exhibition by Hester Middelweerd for The Spaceless Gallery, presented at Reishi™ House Paris in collaboration with MycoWorks during Art Basel and Paris Art Week 2025.

Set within the Haussmann-style setting of Avenue de l'Opéra, the exhibition brought together raw and refined contemporary artworks from The Spaceless Gallery alongside Reishi™ creations, creating a dialogue between contemporary art, design and next-generation biomaterials.

The presentation brought together ceramic artists Olga Sabko, Morgane Pasqualini and Jean-Baptiste Lenglet; pigment-based organic narratives by Quentin Derouet; the vibrant floral assemblages of Marianne Eriksen Scott and Zoé Imber; abstractions on canvas by Aleksandra Szewczuk; and the sculptural and algorithmic poetry of aurèce vettier, a collaboration between human craftsmanship and artificial intelligence initiated by Paul Mouginot. Alongside these works were pieces by Sophie Dries, Marion Mailaender and OEO Studio, as well as new designs including the airy pendant lights of experimental studio Aléa and a new chair by Tim Leclabart.

Across these different practices, artists and designers begin with raw materials — whether clay, pigment, canvas, organic matter or data — and transform them into new forms. In dialogue with Reishi™, the exhibition explored materiality, form and technique, revealing a shared sensitivity towards the natural world and the potential of matter, while opening a space for experimentation, craftsmanship and imagination.
